Colony Ship: A Post-Earth Role Playing Game is an upcoming turn-based, party-based RPG set aboard a generation ship that was launched to Proxima Centauri. In this game, players will navigate a detailed skill-based character system, make choices with consequences, and engage in branching dialogue trees as they explore the ship and interact with its inhabitants.

In the year 2754, humanity finds itself confined to the Ship, a massive spacecraft on a centuries-long voyage to colonize a distant planet. Born into this confined existence, you have never experienced the warmth of the sun, the wind rustling through trees, or the freedom of swimming in the ocean. Your life is predetermined by the Ship's mission, just like your father and his father before him.

The Ship, an aging interplanetary freighter retrofitted for its new purpose, is uncertain to reach its destination. But for the current generation onboard, it doesn't really matter, as none will live long enough to witness its arrival. Despite this, life goes on, and you must make the best of your situation.

Inspired by Heinlein's Orphans of the Sky, Colony Ship is an isometric RPG where your character's world is the generation ship itself. The Ship's original government has been disbanded following a violent mutiny, leaving you to navigate through various factions and passengers vying for control. Your choices will determine who becomes your ally or enemy in this treacherous environment.

The game begins in the Pit, a sprawling area filled with vacant cargo containers that have become home to those who couldn't afford to stay in the Habitat or wanted to escape its control. Life in the Pit is harsh and survival is uncertain.

As you wake up in this bleak environment, you open your eyes to the sight of a grey, metal ceiling with a flickering yellow panel indicating dayshift. The air you breathe is recycled and carries the scent of metal and burning oil. Looking out, you see the container towers of Cargo Hold 3, known as the Pit, or the Free City.

The game features various locations on the Ship, each with its own unique challenges. For example, Hydroponics, once tasked with adapting Terran plants to the alien environment, now resembles a wild jungle overrun by mutant vegetation. The Habitat, once a place of amusement and artificial greenery, has transformed into fortified platforms patrolled by armed guards. The Armory, Mission Control, Shuttle Bay, and Factory are just a few of the other locations players will explore.

Combat in Colony Ship is difficult and requires strategic thinking. Players will often find themselves outnumbered and outgunned, so they must find ways to even the odds or avoid fights altogether. Accuracy, evasion, and damage are the main factors determining the difficulty of combat encounters. Players will need to learn to control these factors to succeed in combat.

However, combat is not the only solution. The game offers alternatives to fighting through speech skills such as Persuasion, Streetwise, and Impersonate. Players can use their abilities to negotiate their way out of conflicts and avoid combat entirely.
