The Multiverse is in danger as someone has stolen multiple Great Plugs, which are crucial items that bind the many universes together. Without these plugs, anyone can traverse the different galaxies using a series of pipes. However, if the pipes are left open, the plug-less galaxy will slowly die and disappear. It is up to you and your team to find the thief and bring back balance to the Multiverse.

Guiding you on your quest is S.H.E.L.D.O.N., your sassy on-board A.I. Along the way, you may encounter other intergalactic travelers in need of help, such as a mysterious drone, an odd hermit, a merchant space octopus, and even cats! The fate of these characters depends on your actions, and they might even join you on your perilous adventure.

Life on board your ship is filled with challenges. As fresh Space Academy graduates, you must pilot the ship, operate turrets, extinguish fires, clean up, repair, recycle, and reinforce your vessel with upgrades. Swarms of enemies will constantly bombard you with vicious attacks, so teamwork and multitasking are essential for success, especially in the hardest difficulties.

Every run in We Are Screwed! is unique, thanks to the game's procedurally generated Multiverse. Whether you choose to try out a new spacecraft or module, each run will provide a brand-new adventure, keeping the gameplay experience fresh and exciting.
